Brain Stroke (Lakwa)
Brain stroke, also known as Lakwa in Hindi, occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. This can lead to brain damage and requires immediate medical attention. There are two main types of strokes: ischemic stroke (due to blocked arteries) and hemorrhagic stroke (due to bleeding in or around the brain).
Causes of Brain Stroke:
- High blood pressure: The leading cause of strokes.
- Atherosclerosis: Narrowing of arteries due to fat deposits.
- Diabetes: Increases the risk of stroke.
- Smoking: Damages blood vessels and accelerates artery blockage.
- Heart disease: Such as atrial fibrillation, which can lead to blood clots.
